FortisPay Adds CEO, CFO, CIO To Lead Expansion

Fortis Payment Systems (FortisPay) has added three new executives, including a new CEO, as the payment tech company expands into new areas, a press release says.

Fortis works with businesses, independent software vendors and developers to give tech and merchant solutions to help companies scale and offer new customer options.

Greg Cohen will now be the company CEO. He worked previously as FortisPay’s executive chairman and early-integrated payments veteran.

“Greg has extensive knowledge of the commerce ecosystem and a unique ability to scale platform businesses and solutions both directly and indirectly in complex environments,” said Jimmy Nafso, co-founder and chief operating officer of FortisPay. “His support at the board level has been tremendous and we’re thrilled to have him on board full-time as he contributes to the firm’s strategic growth. His leadership will be invaluable as we continue on our rapid growth track.”

In addition, Dennis McLaughlin, who previously worked as a finance professional and used to be vice president with Berkeley Research Group, will now be FortisPay’s new CFO. With Paya, McLaughlin was reportedly interim CFO and had been in charge of “all facets of finance and accounting.”

Lastly, FortisPay has hired on Ashley Usher as new chief integration and information officer. Usher has 20 years’ experience in digital payments, FinTechs and technology, and has held titles such as a partner in executive operations, product development, IT strategy; she was a partner at TechCXO. She was also vice president at Global Payments.

FortisPay has been busy as of late, as in May the company bought Change Merchant Solutions and EpicPay, PYMNTS wrote.

Those buys would work to enhance the offerings FortisPay could make to developers and ISVs, allowing tech partners more options to choose from while connected to one payment platform. The partners will be able to choose from several options while connecting to customized experiences through integrated APIs.

Those acquisitions also helped FortisPay boost its clout with nonprofits.
