Commercial fleet fueling services firm Fuelman, a subsidiary of FLEETCOR, launched a new solution to help fleet clients pay for and accurately track all charging activities for electric vehicles (EVs), including reimbursing employees for at-home charging, according to a press release on Wednesday (Jan. 12).

“As businesses increasingly look to adopt EVs, the fueling landscape becomes more complex, which in turn makes fleet management more difficult,” said Alexey Gavrilenya, group president of North America Fuel at FLEETCOR.

“We are at the forefront of the energy transition by providing an enhanced, comprehensive management and payment platform to help customers efficiently manage fleets with any fuel mix,” Gavrilenya said.

The EV solution is available to Fuelman customers and can be added to a physical fleet card or integrated as a virtual EV companion feature. Both the physical and digital solutions can be used for making payments in EV charging apps across charging networks that accept Mastercard.

Driven by the number of employees charging EVs at home and the need for reimbursement, the new Fuelman solution gleans data from the cars to track every time it’s charged and logs the type of charger and its location. The tool tracks and manages usage, costs and reimbursement, regardless of whether the EV is charged at home or another location.

“As a leader in commercial fleet management and payment solutions, we can provide our customers convenience, fraud controls and data insights, no matter where or how they fuel,” said Keagan Russo, president of Fuelman and the North America Local Fleet.

“Enabling EV charging payment, data and home reimbursement for all of our Fuelman fleet card customers allows us to help customers manage their fleets moving forward,” Russo added.

Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, Fuelman bills itself as the leading fuel expense management solution, according to the press release. The company’s fuel cards include customizable fuel controls, along with real-time alerts and reporting that help businesses manage and control fuel expenses.
