Today in Data: Amazon Prime Day By The Numbers

It’s no secret that Amazon’s Prime Day has become a highly sought-after shopping day for consumers over the last few years.

Since its 2015 inception, Amazon has generated massive amounts of money by offering up discounts on its tech devices and third-party vendor’ products. The numbers are in, and it looks like the eCommerce giant has done it again and surpassed its previous sales records.

Here are the numbers:

6,000 | Amount of orders per minute in the U.S.

3x | Number of Amazon Echos sold more than in 2016

$2 billion | Estimated Prime Day 2017 sales by Internet Retailer

20 percent | Increase of 2017 Prime Day sales over the prior year

85 million | Number of Prime members this year; there were 63 million at the same time in 2016
