The Cashless Vending Machine and Interactive TV Ad You Have to See to Believe

MasterCard has taken its serious “appetite” for innovation to new heights with its cashless vending machine initiative. Hungry patrons can use the MasterCard PayPass app on their mobile phone to buy a bite to eat at these futuristic food dispensers. (The Coca-Cola machine even blew up the image of the drink so the consumer could read the nutritional information). As you can see in the clip, when it comes time to pay, just tap and go!

MasterCard has been able to incorporate an unprecedented amount of both engagement and education at the point of sale, thanks in part to MasterCard Labs. A program to foster collaborative brainstorming around payments innovation, MasterCard Labs enables the company to execute new concepts in a quick and cost-efficient manner.

A resulting initiative has been the MasterCard Labs QkR App. The feature employs QR codes, QkR labels, NFC tags, as well as audio, voice and gesture reorganization, to bring increased levels of information and interactivity to the shopping process. The app can even be implemented to work with TV advertisements – to the delight of couch potatoes and wannabe couch potatoes everywhere!
