WooCommerce Offers Access to TikTok’s 1 Billion Members

Open-source eCommerce platform WooCommerce has launched a partnership with TikTok designed to connect Woo’s 3.7 million stores to TikTok’s more than 1 billion users.

As the company said in a news release Wednesday (May 25), that connection will happen through a new extension called TikTok for WooCommerce, which lets merchants sync their catalog to TikTok and promote their products through ads on the video platform.

On its blog, WooCommerce cited research showing that 48% of users immediately purchased a brand or product after seeing it advertised on TikTok.

“Merchants can now create native, shareable “in-feed” TikTok ads directly from their WooCommerce dashboard — including an embedded Smart Video Generator that simplifies the process by producing video ads using existing product images,” the release said. “The integration also allows for an advanced TikTok pixel to be used on a merchant’s website for ongoing campaign performance tracking.”

WooCommerce added that the integration will offer priority access to all of the eCommerce features TikTok hopes to unveil in the coming months.

The announcement comes one day after both companies unveiled new programs. In TikTok’s case, it was the ability to let viewers pay to subscribe to specific streamers.

The program, known as Live Subscription, will give fans access to features such as a subscriber-only chat, creator-specific emojis and badges. Some TikTok creators have said they look forward to a source of “predictable” income each month.

WooCommerce, meanwhile, expanded its partnership with buy now, pay later (BNPL) firm Affirm to offer new ways of paying in installments.

Through the partnership, eligible WooCommerce businesses can offer Affirm at checkout more easily. This also applies to companies in Canada using PayBright, which is owned by Affirm.

Affirm said approved customers can split their purchase into four installments, in the normal BNPL mode, or choose from various other installment plans.
