This capability is enabled by Square’s new integration with Apple Business, and it is available to Square sellers of all sizes across Square’s eight supported regions, according to the release.

Square sellers who connect their locations to Apple Business from their Square Dashboard can now manage their brand and add a logo to enhance their brand presence on Apple Maps place cards; automatically sync key business details for each connected location so that hours, address and phone number remain up to date across Apple apps and services; and provide action links such as Menu, Order, Pickup, Delivery, Book and Schedule Appointment so that customers can take action directly from an Apple Maps place card.

Eligible Square business-verified sellers in the United States and Canada who do not already have an Apple Business account can enroll directly from the Square Dashboard.

Square plans to add more capabilities to help sellers manage their Apple presence in future releases. These may include place card engagement metrics and peer group benchmarks.

“The survival and success of local businesses hinges on whether customers can find them, and today, more of that discovery happens through Apple Maps,” Morgan Kuntze, global partnership lead at Square parent company Block, said in the release. “This integration means our sellers don’t have to choose between running their business and keeping every channel updated.”

This integration follows Square’s July announcement that it launched integrations with ChatGPT and Claude to connect sellers and customers. The company said its ChatGPT app and Claude plugin are designed to help merchants “get discovered and transact” at the moment customers are making purchasing decisions via AI-powered conversations.

In addition, Square teamed up with Amazon to extend its AI-powered discovery to voice commerce through Alexa+.

When announcing those integrations, Kuntze said in a press release: “Modern commerce is moving at a sprint, and we’re building Square to help sellers appear everywhere customers are going.”
