Ramp built Glass following a week in May in which the spend management firm burned through $1.5 million in AI tokens, per the post.
“Giving every employee AI—the best models, the most tokens—is not the same as becoming an AI-native company,” the post said. “It’s like giving every employee a Steinway and expecting a symphony. What you actually get is a lot of expensive noise.”
Glass is designed to turn company-specific information into tools that can be used across the organization, according to the post. So far, 323 Ramp employees have made more than 6,500 edits to what the platform knows.
New feature requests, for example, used to be manually copied into Salesforce at a rate of 300 a month. In May, an account manager saved a prompt to Glass that pulls those requests from customer calls, letting Ramp capture 20,000 a month, per the post.

“No model ships with your company’s brain,” the post said.
Each product comes with a meter, which means users can see the cost of work as it happens rather than when an invoice comes, according to the post.
“And every request runs through Ramp Router, which picks the right model for the job,” the post said. “When we moved our own work onto it, our bill fell 30% overnight.”
The PYMNTS Intelligence report “AI at Work: Why Deeper Enterprise Use Produces Stronger Returns” found in September that 62% of surveyed companies spent more than $10 million on new AI tools in the past year. Businesses with deeper deployment reported more roadblocks, such as gaps in skills and lack of clear responsibility for the technology.
“Earlier experience may help,” PYMNTS reported Sept. 29. “Among firms that had embedded older forms of AI in at least two functions before 2022, 47% have now embedded newer AI in three or more.”
It was reported last week that Ramp reached a valuation of $60 billion after completing a $1.85 billion funding round, and the new valuation does not include that financing.
