Apple customers in Malaysia can now make use of Apple Pay through their iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad and Mac, the tech giant announced in a press release Tuesday (Aug. 9).
The company said there will be “thousands” of retailers accepting Apple Pay, along with support from big banks and major credit and debit networks.
In its release, Apple said that Apple Pay is centered around privacy and security, with users’ personal information, transaction data and other information not stored on-device or on the company’s servers.
“We are delighted to bring Apple Pay to Malaysia, providing an easier, safer, and more secure way to pay with iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac,” said Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet. “We think users will love the convenience and security of using Apple Pay.
“Our customers in Malaysia will benefit from using Apple Pay with the support of the most popular banks, merchants, and our customers’ favourite apps.”
Apple has made other advancements lately, including in its moves toward creating a self-driving vehicle, which it has been angling at for several years now.

PYMNTS wrote recently that the tech giant has hired Luigi Taraborrelli, who has 20 years’ experience with Lamborghini and previously worked on vehicle models like Urus and Huracan, as the senior manager of Apple’s electric vehicle team.
Some of Taraborrelli’s other work included limited models like the Huracan Sterrato off-road vehicle. He also has experience in chassis development, handling, suspensions, steering, brakes and rims.
His work with Apple will include helping the company design a self-driving vehicle. Apple has seen several delays on its proposed production of a self-driving car, though it recently said it might have one out by 2025.
