Anthropic said in the amendment that it launched Claude in the first quarter of 2023 and that its revenue growth since then demonstrates that “Claude has experienced the fastest enterprise adoption of any technology in history.”

Anthropic filed its initial Form S-1 on Oct. 26 in preparation for its proposed initial public offering. Monday’s amendment fills in some information that had been left blank.

Anthropic said in the amendment that as of Sept. 30, it has entered into purchase commitments and lease agreements totaling about $895.4 billion, almost all of which is related to compute and infrastructure, and that during the quarter ended Sept. 30, its revenue grew 1,127% year over year while its compute and infrastructure expenses grew 382%.

As in the original filing, Anthropic did not state the size or valuation of its listing in the amendment.

Multiple media reports said Monday that Anthropic is looking to raise $3.5 billion from investors in Japan as part of its initial public offering.

The AI company will use the new funding for working capital, operating expenses and capital expenditure, Reuters reported Monday, citing a regulatory filing.

Bloomberg reported on the filing Sunday (Nov. 1), saying that this offering makes Japan one of only a few markets in which investors will have direct access to Anthropic’s U.S. IPO. The other markets include Australia, Canada and some parts of Europe.

PYMNTS reported Oct. 26 that with this IPO, Anthropic became the first frontier AI lab to seek a listing.

It was reported Oct. 21 that Anthropic’s IPO could be the largest stock market debut ever and that it is a major test for the AI boom as investors grow wary of the industry’s heavy spending.

It was reported Friday (Oct. 30) that rival AI company OpenAI cut the target for its current funding round from $30 billion to $20 billion amid investor concerns about the AI market. OpenAI is seeking to raise the funding at a valuation of $1.25 trillion, down from the previous $1.4 trillion.

Reports attributed OpenAI’s move to a sell-off of AI-related shares, competition for attention as Anthropic readies its IPO and “tepid interest” from some large investors.
