Fiverr Introduces Subscriptions Tool For Freelancers

Fiverr

Freelance services platform Fiverr is introducing a new tool that enables freelancers to offer subscriptions to the clients they work with the most.

“In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, more businesses are tapping into remote, freelance talent than ever before. Managers have become comfortable managing remote talent, and businesses have realized that by working with freelancers, they are able to increase their agility and flexibility, which allows them to scale quickly,” said Micha Kaufman, Fiverr co-founder and CEO, in a press release on Wednesday (Feb. 10).

He added that because every business has unique needs, subscriptions can help freelancers on the platform have more control over their working relationships and “empower them to work in ways that best suit their needs.”

Subscriptions are intended to give freelancers on Fiverr the freedom to form ongoing relationships with their customers. In the past, jobs and payments were handled on a per-project basis. Fiverr said this move is part of an overall expansion of product offerings and services intended to attract larger businesses, agencies and corporate teams.

Fiverr offers numerous services that tend to be more effective with ongoing relationships, such as SEO, social media marketing, website maintenance and virtual assistants. Offering business buyers the ability to subscribe to the same services every month eliminates the need for them to purchase on a per-job basis and ensures continuity.

The Subscriptions feature will initially be available to select freelancers in eight categories across the Fiverr platform, including social media marketing, SEO and voice-over work. The tool will give freelancers the ability to offer their services at a discount for three and/or six months. Subscriptions will eventually be launched to other categories on the platform.

Fiverr recently launched Milestones, a new product that streamlines the process of completing larger projects. This solution enables buyers to divide the freelancer’s work into mini-projects and pay for each one independently without committing to the full project.

In September, Fiverr started rolling out new tools to make it easier for corporate teams to connect with their remote workers. According to the company, a recent survey of 2,000 businesses indicated that 52 percent plan to increase their budgets for freelance services.
