Foursquare Turns Home Screen Into Ad Space

In a bid toward monetization, Foursquare has announced that it is now selling ad space on its home screen, Ad Age reported on November 21.

The geolocation-based social network announced that MasterCard would be embarking on an ad campaign set to end in late December.

This is the first time Foursquare has monetized its home screen. According to Ad Age, when users click on the ad, it takes them to a page showing restaurants in the area that take MasterCard as a form of payment.
