Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman at Google, stood up for his company after being attack for low tax payments in Britain, reports Reuters. Google, Amazon and Starbucks were the companies accused by a British parliamentary committee in 2012 for unethically minimizing tax bills. Schmidt responded to the accusations, arguing that Google adheres to the law and also contributes to the growth of the British economy.
Schmidt responded, as Reuters reports, “I think the most important thing to say about our taxes is that we fully comply with the law and we’ll obviously, should the law change, comply with that as well.” He continued, “We’re a key part of the electronic commerce expansion of Britain, which is driving a lot of economic growth for the country.”
