Google, PayPal Back MENA’s Newest Online Marketplace

Aramex, Google, PayPal and ShopGo have teamed to launch EZStore.me, a new eCommerce marketplace designed for Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) small businesses (SMBs), Gulf News reported on October 7.

The companies indicate that 90 percent of SMBs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are not yet selling online, and that EZStore.me’s services will allow these merchants to better serve their customers.

“All the partners have realised that there is a unique opportunity in the region to accelerate eCommerce,” Wassim Kabbara, head of retail at Google Gulf, told Gulf News in an October 7 statement. “When you look at the fundamentals for eCommerce in the region, on one hand a very large and vibrant internet population and on the other hand a very large and dynamic retail market.”
