Microsoft: Indian Banking Sector At Risk

Microsoft, drawing from a recent study compiled by Ascentius Consulting, is warning Indian banks that their systems could be at risk should it cut its support of its Windows XP operating system, ATM Marketplace reported on November 15.

Windows XP support will go dark on April 8, 2014. The Ascentius study showed that between 40 and 70 percent of the Indian banking sector still relies on the years-old operating system. Possible issues include service interruptions, longer waiting times and the risk of both fraud and identify theft.
