Obama Names Mary Jo White Next SEC Chair, Keeps Richard Cordray Head Of CFPB

President Obama has named Mary Jo White as the next chair of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Richard Cordray as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, according to TIME.

White spent nearly a decade as the U.S. attorney in Manhattan and is viewed as a tough prosecutor who will continue the Obama administration’s policy of tough legislation against big banks. Cordray ran the CFPB last year and has overcome Republican opposition to remain in his position.
