Canadian Investors in Mt. Gox Seek $500M In A Class Action Lawsuit

    The lawsuit targets Mark Karpeles and Jed McCaleb, Mt. Gox’s owners, as well as a one of the largest banks in Japan.  The company has received a temporary reprieve from such suits in the U.S. and Japan, where it has filed for bankruptcy protection.

    “We’re never going to find out what’s going on unless we start a lawsuit because it’s the only way we’re going to get access to the records,” Toronto litigation lawyer Ted told the CBC in an interview “It’s really the only way to get the thing going.”

    Mt.Gox allegedly lost nearly half a billion dollars in bitcoins due to a security flaw in the exchange.  The company halted withdrawals last month, and then abruptly shutdown.
