NakedWines To Launch Same Day Delivery

NakedWines, the company that brought crowdsourcing to wine by collecting money from customers, is using that money to fund independent winemakers and then grant exclusive access to the product for those initial investors (called, Angels).  The service required members keep $40 in their NakedWine account per month to be spent as desired.

There is even a mechanism to get a refund on wines that were better in theory than in reality.

The innovative company is now pushing to bring same day delivery with a pilot program currently underway in San Francisco.  There is currently no extra charge for delivery same day, and orders valued at more than $100 receive free shipping.  The company’s goal, apart from being the Kickstarter of high-end drinking- is to sell wines for $10-$15 a bottle that customers would generally be paying $30-$40 for.

“We really cater to an audience that tends to be younger than the average wine drinker, not wine snobs, as we call them,” said COO Benoit Vialle, reports The Next Web. “For the most part, the angel base is people who like good wine but don’t want to spend a lot.

The service, if successful in San Francisco could also soon launch in New York, L.A., London and Sydney.  They are also evaluating whether to sell other products under the Naked Label.

“There’s no reason why putting the individual producer in touch with a large audience and allowing them to buy direct from the producer couldn’t go across a variety of different product categories for sure,” Vialle said.
