Braintree Supports Apple Pay At UK Launch

When Apple Pay goes live today (July 14), Braintree will be among some of its biggest supporters.

Braintree will enable U.K. merchants — as well as merchants around the globe — to be among the first batch to accept Apple Pay in the U.K. Because Braintree has been a supporter of Apple Pay in the U.S. since its inception, this support in the U.K. seems to be the next logical step.

“Consumers around the world are adopting mobile commerce at a rapid pace, creating the demand for merchants to offer more seamless buying experiences. One of these experiences is Apple Pay, and today we’re excited to announce our support for Apple Pay in the U.K., via Braintree’s v.zero SDK,”Aunkur Arya, senior vice president of sales at Braintree, wrote in a company blog today.

Merchants and developers in the U.K. can now easily add Apple Pay to their checkout flow in addition to PayPal, credit and debit cards. At Braintree, we’re continuously expanding our platform to enable merchants to deliver the best commerce experiences, and our extension of Apple Pay support to U.K. developers furthers our mission to support multiple wallets,” he continued.

Among the merchants that Braintree will help integrate Apple Pay as a payment option for include Hungryhouse, Hailo, JustPark, YPlan, BarPass, Top10, BIZZBY, Mr & Mrs Smith, StubHub and HotelTonight, just to name a few. And those merchants have already been eager to speak about why it’s been helpful working with Braintree to integrate the mobile payment technology.

“Ensuring that merchants are able to easily integrate new payment methods is at Braintree’s core, and that simplicity is something our merchant partners love. Using Braintree’s v.zero implementation, we were able to efficiently implement Apple Pay in a matter of days, which will provide an easier payment experience to our iOS users and help us to continue to be the easy way to takeaway,” said Scott Fletcher, CEO of Hungryhouse.

In the post, Arya emphasized Braintree’s commitment to providing merchants with options when it comes to accepting payment methods. This means enabling merchants with the “most convenient purchasing experiences possible when they pay, however they want to pay,” Arya wrote.
