eBay Valet Selling Expands Into High-End Goods

eBay announced yesterday (June 4) that its eBay Valet professional selling service has expanded into the high-end realm.

That means the service will extend its reach to accept high-end clothing, shoes, handbags, electronics and other popular household items. The expansion of eBay Valet means adding top designer fashion labels that enable more consumers to sell their like-new goods in a secure manner across the online marketplace. And those consumers get to sell the products while eBay does the work.

eBay Valet estimates the price, takes professional photos and offers the buyer and seller the peace of mind that they are using a safe and verified marketplace. These are particularly key factors when purchasing and selling goods in the high-end product space. Fashion, in particular, is a major category for eBay.

“Fashion is one of the top categories on eBay globally; in fact, a dress sells every second and a pair of shoes sells every two seconds,” said Marcelle Parrish, head of fashion at eBay Marketplaces. “The expansion of eBay Valet in the fashion category delivers access to experts who will showcase clothing in the best possible light, in front of one of the largest online shopping audiences.”

As part of eBay’s recent expansion into high-end fashion through eBay Valet, the eCommerce giant has also partnered with fashion blogger Garance Doré to provide fashion enthusiasts advice on what to sell and how to sell — helping them make the most of their eBay experience. They also can be given pointers on how to tap into eBay’s 157 million active eBay shoppers.

“By making selling online accessible to more sellers, eBay Valet contributes to the wide selection of unique and hard-to-find items that are available on eBay,” said Vincent Payen, head of Consumer Selling for eBay Marketplaces. “eBay Valet is a quick and easy way for anyone to sell everything from designer clothing and handbags to electronics and household items.”
