Rent The Runway Kicks Off On-Demand Service

Ever been tearing through your closet and have absolutely nothing to wear? Rent the Runway now has consumers covered for this exact scenario.

This week, the high-end fashion company announced that it will now offer up same-day delivery in New York City. Anyone in the area looking to rent a piece of designer clothing at the last minute can now turn to Rent the Runway to have the piece delivered to their doorstep within five hours or less.

The on-demand service is something that we’ve been seeing increase over the last few years, and it looks like the designer clothes fashion industry is now on board.

From tops to skirts and accessories, Rent the Runway’s designer clothing items start at $30, and the company will include free back-up sizes for every order. The shipping rate for this new clothing rental offering will remain at the standard fee of $9.95.

If this venture is successful in the Big Apple, Rent the Runway has shared that it would consider expanding this on-demand service to other cities. In particular, the fashion company says approximately 30 percent of its designer clothes orders placed at its NYC, Washington D.C., Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles locations make same-day delivery requests. As such, Rent the Runway is confident that the on-demand clothing rental service would be popular in those areas in the future.
