T&E Firm Integrates With Uber — And Its Rival

Uber has secured another deal to ease the expense management process for its corporate users — but so has rival Lyft.

In an announcement on Friday (March 18), travel and expense management firm DATABASICS revealed that the digital receipts received by corporate travelers after they ride with Uber or Lyft can now be automatically integrated into its solution, DATABASICS Receipt EXPRESS.

The tool allows employees to forward a receipt that has been emailed to them, and data from that transaction is automatically input into the platform to generate an expense report.

In a statement, the company said the move is a response to corporate demand.

“Our customers are telling us that they are very excited to have this functionality in DATABASICS Expense,” the firm stated, adding that the solution uses optical character recognition technology to capture receipt data.

Earlier this month, Uber announced a slew of collaborations between its business unit, Uber for Business, and top T&E solution providers.

Certify, Expensify and Chrome River all announced in early March that their solutions would integrate with Uber, allowing business users to select their expense management solution within the Uber app itself to automate the creation of expense reports and transaction information capture.

“With nearly 1 million people activating Business Profiles, business travel has become one of Uber’s fastest-growing segments,” said Uber for Business Lead Max Crowley in a statement at the time. “Providing the ability for our riders to automatically submit their receipts for expense reimbursement is a logical step forward in making trips more seamless.”
