The cross-border corporate payments firm NxSystems Ltd. no longer goes by that name. In an announcement on Friday (Jan. 29), the company revealed that it will now officially be rebranded as MiFinity Payments, a change the firm said reflects a new focus on seamless global payments.

“Our new corporate identity as MiFinity Payments reflects our ongoing commitment to providing innovative, best-in-class payments technology solutions to the travel, hospitality and gaming sectors and to fostering long-term partnerships with new stakeholders in need of secure, efficient and compliant payments technologies,” said the corporation’s chief operations officer, Gay Hamilton, in a statement.

He continued: “The rebranding provides us with new direction and focus on broadening the use and application of our technology as a comprehensive solution for companies’ payment needs.”

Only weeks ago, then-named NxSystems announced a management restructuring and a private buyout.

A Nov. 2015 announcement revealed that a group of investors had agreed to acquire the company and overhaul its board of directors, leading to CEO Michael Busher’s retirement. Busher will reportedly continue to provide consultative guidance for the firm.

It is unclear whether the private acquisition and rebranding are leading up to new product launches or a change in business strategy for the payments company.
