QuickBooks Launches SMB Wholesale Marketplace

QuickBooks has launched a new marketplace called Trada that “connects independent retailers with amazing brands and wholesale sellers,” the company said.

According to a Thursday (Aug. 11) blog post announcing the new marketplace, the platform is especially geared toward small businesses. In function and appearance, the Trada website looks somewhat like a cross between Etsy and Amazon.

Trada is operating in the United States and Australia. The Trada website states the platform “is like a trade show, but without the hassle.” The site features offerings such as novelty clothing, ecologically friendly pet treats, specialty foods and high-end paper products.

Features of Trada for retailers, per the announcement, include free membership, one-stop shopping, buyer protection; and a large selection of “unique products at wholesale prices.” Retailers pay zero commission.

For other sellers, benefits include “free membership, a unique storefront, vetted buyers, and wholesale data to help manage their business,” the blog post states. Trada asks sellers to offer their best prices on the platform, according to Trada’s website.

Users of QuickBooks online can seamlessly use Trade, according to the announcement.

Through the end of 2022, the announcement states, Trade will include free shipping for retailers and zero commissions for sellers.

“We know that product-based businesses face challenges and opportunities in discovering customers and growing their businesses,” Shilpa Reddy, vice president, QuickBooks Commerce at Intuit, said in a prepared statement. “Trada by QuickBooks simplifies the customer and product discovery experience for retailers and wholesale sellers. It also automates order placement and provides rich business insights for growth.”

Among the countries where the service apparently will not be available is India, where Intuit will case offering the Quickbooks service in January 2023, the Economic Times of India reported in early July. Competitors in the country include Soho and Tally.
