Citi Announces Replacement Card Tracker

Citi has just provided its members an in-app window into the status of their replacement cards.

Starting today (Nov. 29), Citi credit card members in the U.S. will be able to track the progress of their replacement card delivery in real time. This new feature applies to all instances of card reissuance, from replacing expired cards and EMV chip upgrades, to replacement in the case a card is lost, stolen or damaged. Customers will also be able to activate their card through the tracker.

Citi is the first major credit card issuer to offer real-time card replacement tracking. Members can track their card’s status through Citi Online or within the Citi mobile app for iPhone and Android. Citi customers will now be able to monitor when their replacement card was processed and view its expected delivery date. If the package was sent through FedEx, Citi customers will also be able to track the package in real time.

Alice Milligan, chief customer and digital experience officer for Citi Global Cards and Consumer Services, said in a press release: “As we redesign the banking experience to be increasingly in the palms of our card members’ hands, Citi is quickly creating simple, next-gen solutions for our customers’ banking needs. Having real-time insight into the status of their card delivery will provide our customers with more peace of mind and enable them to plan ahead.”

An Accenture Banking Customer Survey found that, on a monthly basis, the majority of interactions (just over 88 percent) between banking customers and their banks are conducted via digital means — mobile banking, ATM withdrawals and social media engagement, to name a few. The card reissuance tracker is the newest addition to Citi’s continued push to improve digital functionality and integrate more of the banking experience into its mobile app.

Some of Citi’s other recent additions to digital banking include Citi Pay, a mobile wallet for Android users that rolled out in Australia, Singapore and Mexico earlier this November. Citi partnered with Mastercard to enable the Citi Pay platform to run smoothly for thousands of online merchants in 33 countries. Citi customers in the U.S. can expect to see Citi Pay hit app stores in 2017.

Citi also recently introduced the ability to dispute certain credit card charges, view or download PDF statements, as well as view FICO scores for free, within the Citi Mobile App. Members can also request credit limit increases, view recurring charges and enroll in paperless statements in-app. Citi currently provides banking and financial services in more than 160 countries and manages approximately 200 million customer accounts worldwide.
