Enhancements In Store For Visa Checkout

Visa’s online payments service, Visa Checkout, has some new enhancements coming down the pipeline, which the company previewed at this year’s eTail West event.

In a statement from Visa, the company said it showed off a new sleek design for Visa Checkout and a range of new features designed to help make shopping easier for consumers, both online and on mobile.

The upgrades to Visa Checkout are also aimed at speeding up the integration and customization of the service for merchants.

Visa said merchants can expect to see the following things coming to the service this spring:

  • Customized Messages and Offers: Select merchants will have the ability to personalize the Visa Checkout experience for their customers, with images and messages that will appear within the lightbox based on where a shopper is located and how they shop.
  • Visa Checkout Lightbox Improvements: A more streamlined checkout will allow customers to save keystrokes and time, while also improving navigation and design for smaller mobile devices.
  • Simplified Sign-Up Process: Users will now have the ability to scan an image of their payment cards and the integration of Google APIs will automatically provide suggestions for address information as they go through the registration process.

Visa confirmed that the new features and enhancements coming to Visa Checkout will become available automatically and will continue the company’s efforts to reduce clutter, confusion and friction in the online checkout process.

Earlier this week, Visa announced that Visa Checkout is also headed to six more markets. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Monday (Feb. 22), Visa said the service will be expanding to new regions across Europe (France, Ireland, Poland, Spain and the U.K.) and India.

Visa Checkout launched in 2014 and is currently in 16 countries but will soon (following the launch of those six more) be in 22 countries. Visa Checkout has more than 11 million consumer accounts and is accepted by more than 250,000 merchants online.
