Adam Aron, AMC’s CEO, is looking at potentially accepting shiba inu crypto payments, a report from Bitcoin.com said.
He sought the public’s opinion with a Twitter poll on Friday (Oct. 29).
TWITTER POLL #2: As you know, you can now purchase AMC gift cards using cryptocurrency, and our IT group is writing code so that soon we can accept online payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin and Dogecoin among others. Should we strive to take Shiba Inu too?

The poll had garnered 140,858 votes as of the time of this report. There are still two days left before the poll expires.
Thus far, the poll has 87% of votes in favor of adopting shiba inu.
In September, the theater chain conducted a poll for whether dogecoin should be accepted as payment, which resulted in an overwhelming amount of voters deciding they wanted that to happen.
SO FASCINATING! Dogecoin Poll was by far my highest ever read tweet. In 24 hours, 4.2 million views, my most ever retweets, most ever replies. 140,000 votes 77% yes 23% no. It’s clear that you think AMC should accept Dogecoin. Now we need to figure out how to do that. Stay tuned! pic.twitter.com/tkClzgMBMO

Also in September, AMC said it would be accepting several other cryptos, including bitcoin, ethereum, litecoin and bitcoin cash, for users to pay for online ticket and concession payments, by the end of 2021.
As the world has begun reopening, AMC saw a record breaking amount of profits from the Marvel film “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” drawing most of the 2 million people who attended the movies on Labor Day weekend on Sept. 2 through Sept. 5.

That was the first time since the pandemic where the 2021 attendance was higher than the same time in 2019.
“Shang-Chi” brought in $71.4 million in ticket sales, which was the second-highest during the pandemic, after fellow Marvel film “Black Widow,” which garnered $80 million in July.
Aron, speaking on an earnings call, said AMC’s bitcoin payments would likely be in effect by the end of 2021 and that the company would also be accepting Apple Pay and Google Pay.
