Lincoln Testing New Chauffeur Service That Supplies Driver For Your Car

Lincoln owners looking to feel like a VIP with a chauffeur to drive them around might soon be in luck: The car company is testing out a new service for customers that will supply a driver on demand to ferry you around in your own car.

According to TechCrunch, the service is designed to be an upscale Uber. After ordering a chauffeur through a smartphone app, Lincoln will supply a professional driver, who is actually a company employee, to drive you anywhere you need to go in your own car. The driver can even return the car to your home if needed, fill it up with gas or run some light errands, such as picking up groceries.

While other automakers are exploring amenities such as on-demand vehicle rentals and even white glove delivery to a renter’s door, Lincoln is looking to take luxury service to the next level.

Of course, that comes with a price. During the pilot program, which will launch first in Miami, Lincoln Chauffeur will run around $30 per hour. Lincoln owners will get eight hours free of chauffeur service included in the purchase price of the car.

If all goes well, Lincoln would like to expand the service to San Diego next, and then additional markets later.
