ZipLine Names Executive From Next Gen Payment As President

ZipLine, the private-label ACH debit payment company, announced Tuesday (Jan. 24) that Russell Scudder has been named president and chief operating officer of ZipLine, reporting directly to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephen Goodrich.

In a press release, ZipLine said Scudder was formerly president and chief executive of Next Gen Payment Solutions. As president of ZipLine, Scudder will direct a senior leadership team responsible for all functional areas of the business, including current efforts in payment, loyalty and data analytics for the convenience and fuel marketing industries, as well as emerging markets.

“As ZipLine continues to build its strategic importance in the marketplace, the addition of Russ allows us to better focus on the market’s key issues,” said Stephen Goodrich in the press release. “Our loyalty and data elements have elevated ZipLine to the number one form of payment within our leading merchant partners. Leading our day to day, Russ will help ZipLine achieve this goal within every merchant partner.” Scudder graduated from St. Lawrence University. He obtained a Certified Payments Professional (CPP) designation from the Electronic Transactions Association, noted ZipLine.

ZipLine has been has been targeting the convenience and petroleum vertical using a merchant-branded payments method that is deployed in 7 percent of the c-store market and is servicing more than 130 convenience and petroleum merchants. The company told PYMNTS in May it has been able to succeed where others have not due to one significant shift: using savings to drive rewards, a lesson the company learned from its roots in the supermarket vertical, where it quickly became apparent that cost savings alone do not drive adoption by merchants or consumers.
