Toast Unveils Tool for Hotel Restaurants

Restaurant software provider Toast has launched Toast for Hotel Restaurants, a tool that integrates with hotel property management systems to help eateries function more smoothly.

“Hotels are adding more curated food and beverage experiences, but they often lack the ability to let guests order and pay on their own terms across hotel properties,” Aman Narang, president and co-founder of Toast, said in a news release Tuesday (May 3).

Toast argues that many hotels and resorts use disconnected technology to manage core front office tasks such as check-in and check-out, billing and on-site food and beverage orders.

“This leads to a less than optimal experience for hotel staff, who often have to rely on time-consuming manual processes to reconcile food and beverage charges with the guest’s folio,” the release said.

The hotel restaurants tool, the company said, offers a more efficient way to let guests pay bills by charging them to their room, allowing operators to make room charges easier, increase sales and improve the guest experience.

This launch follows last year’s debut of the Toast Restaurant Card, a debit card that targets the needs of restaurant operators.

“Restaurants are timeless, and the jobs that restaurants do for us — whether it’s date nights or drinks after work with friends or anniversary celebrations, and so on — these are these are all things that aren’t going away,” Steve Fredette, co-founder of Toast, said in an interview with PYMNTS.

“But I think technology will increasingly just enhance those experiences, and there’s going to be a lot of change in the next five and 10 years … It’s an exciting time to be in the restaurant technology space,” Fredette said.
