2023 Global Digital Shopping Index: UAE Edition

The Most Satisfied Global Shoppers Are Found in the UAE — How Other Countries Can Catch Up

Few markets have adopted digital and hybrid shopping faster than the UAE, where 94% of consumers used at least one digital shopping feature in their last purchase. PYMNTS’ latest study of 13,349 consumers and 3,124 merchants in six countries, “2023 Global Digital Shopping Index: UAE Edition,” a collaboration with Cybersource, examines what makes the UAE consumer/merchant shopping experience the most satisfying.

Inside the July Playbook
  • 40%: Portion of brick-and-mortar UAE shoppers who cite immediate product availability as a reason for shopping in-store, less than the 54% of U.S. and 53% of U.K. shoppers who say the same
  • 55%: Share of men in the UAE who used a smartphone to enhance their most recent in-store shopping journey, more than the 45% of women who did the same
  • 43%: Portion of consumers in the UAE who cite easy checkout processes as a reason for preferring to shop online
