Walmart Debuts In-Store Netflix Hub and Streaming Gift Card

Walmart’s digital storefront devoted to merchandise around Netflix shows — The Netflix Hub — now also has physical space in 2,400 of the retailer’s brick-and-mortar stores.

At the in-store iteration of The Netflix Hub, which launched Thursday (Oct. 27), Walmart shoppers can buy a gift card, merchandise related to the streaming service’s shows and snacks, the retailer said Thursday in a press release.

“I have so many fond memories of perusing the movie aisle looking for the perfect film to watch with my family on movie night, sometimes sneaking a bag of candy or popcorn into the cart along the way,” Walmart U.S. Vice President Content and Digital Frank Barbieri said in the release. “This is something I thought my kids would never experience, until now.”

The new Netflix Streaming Gift Card that is available in these stores is a Walmart-only product that allows customers to stream shows without having to use a credit card or debit card, according to the press release.

The merchandise available at the Hub locations includes music, apparel, collectibles, games and seasonal items related to Netflix shows, the release stated.

Also available at The Netflix Hub in Walmart stores are Concession Kits that include the sort of snacks one might find in a movie theater. The kits include popcorn, confectionary and collectible cups that complement “the couch-centric viewing experience,” Barbieri said in the release.

“We are so excited to continue bringing exclusive experiences and fan-favorite products to our customers where and when they are shopping,” Barbieri said.

The digital storefront element of The Netflix Hub was launched in October 2021, becoming the streaming service’s first digital storefront offered in conjunction with a national retailer.

“Every day, sometimes multiple times a day, thanks to my kids, I’m reminded we live in an increasingly connected world,” Jeff Evans, executive vice president, entertainment, toys and seasonal at Walmart U.S., said at the time. “At Walmart, we recognize the importance of bringing those trends directly to our customers and fast.”
