Health Care CFO Pleads Guilty To Defrauding Insurers

    According to WXIA, an NBC affiliate, the defendant works for a medical equipment business and along with an associate filed false claims to insurance companies. Additionally, the duo tampered with the Compass billing system.

    “Prosecutors said Lane and office manager Holly Keisker, 61, submitted false claims and diagnoses to insurance companies for patients who did not require compression stockings,” the news source said. “The pair forged and altered doctors’ prescriptions to support the claims. Lane also rigged Compass Healthcare’s billing system so it would automatically bill insurers for the company’s most expensive stocking, regardless of the product ordered, according to prosecutors.”

    A Georgia-based judge is expected to sentence Lane in November.

    Earlier this month, PYMNTS.com reported on former Aeropostale executive vice president and chief marketing officer Christopher Finazzo being sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in a kickback scheme. Finazzo was convicted of receiving more than $25 million in kickbacks from a clothing supplier in exchange for $350 million worth of business.
