Till Payments Acquires Payment Processor ZIPS

acquistion

Australian FinTech Till Payments has acquired ZIPS, the payment processing business unit of the hospitality technology platform firm Ziosk.

The company announced the deal in news release Thursday (Jan. 27), saying it would fast track its expansion in North America.

“The ZIPS business unit has been absorbed into the broader Till business, enabling new and existing partners to access a single-entry gateway to global expansion and greater flexibility for its integrated payments solution,” Till said.

The deal will see ZIPS’ employees and vendor and referral partner portfolio transfer to Till, bringing its headcount in North America to 35.

ZIPS’ Kevin Brown, a 17-year veteran of the payments sector, will become head of strategy for Till North America, overseeing the business’ automation efforts, and introducing Till’s payment solution to the independent software vendor (ISV) community.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin and the rest of the ZIPS team to our Till Force,” said Tom Tucker, regional director of North America at Till. “Our commitment to developing a fairer, simpler, feature-rich payments solution complements the ethos of ZIPS. Together, we have no doubt that we’ll be making a huge impact on the profitability, sustainability and global market expansion efforts of our ISV partners as we continue to innovate within the broader payments landscape.”

Till says the deal also creates a long-term strategic partnerships between itself and Ziosk. Ziosk will continue offering Till’s payment processing services at its more than 3,500 hospitality locations in the U.S., while Till will offer Ziosk Smart Screen payment terminals to the company’s international merchant network.

Last year, Till Payments concluded a 110 million AUD ($80 million) Series C for use on its North American operations, global consolidation and new payments technology services. The company said at the time it would use the funding to improve its proficiency in the U.S., the U.K., Europe and Asia-Pacific while hiring new employees to assist in creating new data-driven payment solutions.
