Amazon Fire TV Shopping App Is Now Available

Amazon has officially launched an app that enables users to use their remote to browse products on its Fire TV.

According to a report in TechCrunch, the app came out in late May. The shopping app for Fire TV lets users search the Amazon website by typing in text. Users can also filter search websites by departments and browse product listings from their TVs. Users can also watch videos about the products, see star ratings, view what other things customers purchase, and read product details and customer reviews. What’s more, TechCrunch noted the app also lets users add things to their Wish List. Even more important, users can also purchase things via their TV screen.

Similar to the Apple TV app, the Fire TV shopping app will also serve up campaigns from brands that in essence are curated collections, such as gift guides that are updated regularly. The campaigns can be flipped through to get inspiration for an outdoor living project or for Father’s Day gifts, for example. Users are also able to search via voice with the new Apple TV shopping app, noted the report. While Amazon hasn’t been promoting the new app or made an official announcement, TechCrunch said it has already attracted reviews and now has a 4.3 star rating. In March Amazon announced that it enabled Alexa voice shopping through Prime Now, Amazon’s rush service that boasts one- to two-hour delivery times. Using voice commands, Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, Fire Tablet and Fire TV owners can say, “Alexa, order [product] from Prime Now.” Alexa will then recommend a product from the full Prime Now catalog. Once the user confirms the item, Alexa adds it to their order.

“Bringing Prime Now to Alexa voice shopping combines two of the most innovative shopping technologies available for an experience that our customers are going to wonder how they ever lived without,” said Assaf Ronen, vice president of voice shopping at Amazon.
