The Flexa payment network has added Shiba Inu as a payment option at more than 40,000 merchants, according to a Be In Crypto report Monday (Dec. 13).

Flexa customers can spend their Shiba Inu digital currency by sending it through the SPEDN wallet on a smartphone app and use it to pay for purchases through the Flex Code that appears on screen, which allows the merchant to scan the code similar to Apple Pay and be paid in fiat through the Amp intermediary cryptocurrency. Flexa deducts the payment amount from the SPEDN wallet.

Nordstrom, Barnes & Noble, Lowe’s, Gamestop and Whole Foods are among the merchants that accept Flex payments. Flexa also added Solana, LUNA and TERRA as payment options earlier this month.

The company has partnered with Regal Cinemas to allow moviegoers to pay for tickets and concessions with a variety of cryptocurrencies, including bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Ethereum and Basic Attention Token. Regal Cinema customers will get 20% discounts if they pay with Shiba Inu through the end of the year.

Flexa recently teamed up with El Salvadorian financial institution Bancoagricola to accept bitcoin for loans and credit card repayments, goods and services since Bitcoin became legal tender in that country in early September.
