According a press release, the series documents the dreams of small business owners in America. Square is a financial services, merchant services aggregator and mobile payment company based in San Francisco. Its founder and CEO is Jack Dorsey, who is also the cofounder and CEO of Twitter.

Made in Iowa centers around the people of Webster City, Iowa, where after the town’s appliance manufacturing plant shut down a few years back, a massive economic shift left many jobless, requiring residents to come together to adjust to a new business climate. The film chronicles the community’s resilience and how they came together and discovered the role small business can play in revitalizing Webster City.

The Square premiere of the short film happened at the Webster City Movie Theater, a landmark that served as a major catalyst of the city’s reinvention.

“The transformation this town created for itself is a special story,” Dorsey told reporters at the premiere. “When the factory left, people started questioning what’s important and what matters and what do I want to do. And those are the moments of transformation. The fact that the whole town did it at once is pretty rare and stunning.”
