Emerging Market Consumers Want Services Banks Don’t Offer

Financial services consumers in Asia and the Middle East want to use the Internet and their mobile devices to manage their bank accounts. But only a fraction of banks in those regions offer such services, Finextra reports.

According to a survey conducted by Celent on behalf of SunGard, just 25 percent of banks in the Middle East offer mobile applications, with 63 percent of Southeast Asian banks providing such service. Smaller proportions of each — 17 percent of Middle East banks, 34 percent in Southeast Asia — offer banking applications for tablet devices.
