Group Commerce Lays Off 28 Percent Of Staff, Shies Away From Local Deals

Group Commerce has laid of 28 percent of its staff as it plans to move away from local deals and focus more on national campaigns, according to Business Insider. “It was a tough decision,” said CEO Jonty Kelt of laying off 31 people from his 109-person staff. “We had to split up our family here.”

    Kelt cited the lack of profitability in local daily deals as reason for the job cuts, and said Group Commerce will focus more on national campaigns which, in Kelt’s words, generate more revenue for the same amount of work needed to offer local deals.
