Dollar General Accepts American Express

Dollar General, the nation’s largest discount retailer by store count with more than 11,500 locations in 40 states, has announced that the franchise would be accepting American Express cards as a form of payment.

Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s COO told Business Wire “We strive to provide our customers with a simple and hassle-free shopping experience.”

American Express’s Executive VP of Merchant Services Gunther Bright said, “We are committed to expanding the places where our Card Members can shop and are pleased to add Dollar General to our network. We want to be everywhere our Card Members are and with more than 11,500 locations nationwide, Dollar General brings tremendous value to our everyday spend category.”

Vasos also mentioned the reason behind accepting AMEX. “The acceptance of the American Express card makes shopping even easier by offering additional flexibility in customers’ payment choices and is consistent with many of our new initiatives, including DG Digital Coupons, which are all aimed at making it easy to save time and save money at Dollar General.”
