One Cash Social Payment Tipping App Launches

There are plenty of payments apps in the market that enable tipping — but for those consumers who want to tip just $1 on one app, that’s where One Cash comes into the mix.

One Cash, new to the iOS app market, is all about tipping and tipping only. While most similar apps are focused on paying back people, this one is to encourage tipping just about anyone. The app works by linking to the user’s Twitter account and then links to a credit/debit card. Those tips can be sent to anyone who has a Twitter account.

“Current payment apps are mostly about paying back your friends. We wanted to create something public and something that would let you support creators,” co-founder Grégoire Henrion told TechCrunch. “And we wanted to create a fun app.”

The app also has the built-in convenience of being able to see other Twitter users who use the app. Or, for those who aren’t aware of One Cash, once a user tweets a tip at them, they can redeem via Twitter. To tip someone $1, there is no fee and the transaction is done with the swipe of the screen. For tips larger than $1, users can swipe the tip option multiple times.

One Cash also has a social element to it since it allows users to create a profile with a bio. There’s also a transaction record list that users can check to see transaction history. Users can also send back a thank you for the tip that comes with a selfie of that person.

“Our niche is creators who have a big enough audience to attract tips and are too small to get advertising dollars,” Henrion said in the interview. “It would also be great if big Vine stars could use tipping in addition to advertising.”
