Square Launches Business Software Services in France

Square

Following a successful Early Access Programme, global software, payments and hardware platform Square announced on Tuesday (Sept. 21) that it has launched in France, granting small and large French businesses access to the company’s innovative ecosystem with the tools they need to start, run and grow their businesses.

Commenting on the launch, Alyssa Henry, executive vice president at Square, said that expanding internationally has been a key priority for the company this year, which launched its Early Access Program in Ireland and France earlier this year, before enabling businesses in Spain to participate in the beta testing of the program this month.

“We are thrilled to expand Square’s solutions into France, helping merchants to run their entire business end-to-end with integrated software, hardware and data analytics, while making it easier for them to take card payments,” added Jason Lalor, European executive director at Square. “French businesses can trust Square to be a fair, transparent and innovative partner they can rely on to help them run their business and get back on track after times of uncertainty.”

Following the launch, businesses in France can now sell online, in-person or both with Square’s integrated suite of products, including the firm’s two point of sale (POS) software products and three versatile payment terminals that offer both mobile and brick-and-mortar businesses access to a fully integrated POS software, reliable and secure payments acceptance, and a transparent processing rate of 1.65% for all card-present transactions, according to the press release.

Local businesses looking to expand through omnichannel selling will also have access to Square’s fully integrated eCommerce platform, which has the ability to automatically sync inventory and orders with any Square point of sale.

Even though Square’s program is available to businesses of all sizes, the majority of the firm’s European clientele will be small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), which represent 99% of companies in Europe, according to data from the European Commission.

In the U.K., where Square has been operating since 2017, SMBs represented 99.3% of the total business as of the start of 2020, and accounted for three-fifths of employment in the private sector.
