Plans for that initial public offering (IPO) come amid a boom in AI agents for enterprise communications.
“We’d love to IPO, build a public company, build that step in a longer journey,” Staniszewski said at a Bloomberg Tech event in London, per the report. “IPO, of course, is not an end in itself. It’s a step in the journey.”
Founded in 2022, ElevenLabs develops voice and audio models for sales and call centers, audiobook narrations and ad translations, the report said. After a $300 million employee tender offer in September, the company was valued at $22 billion, doubling its valuation from February.
Over the next three to five years, people will come to expect they are interacting with AI in business scenarios, Staniszewski said, according to the report.
“Today you assume that you’re interacting with a human unless it’s proven to be AI,” he said, per the report. “In the future, I think it will be the opposite.”
Although the rise of AI agents has helped increase productivity, concerns about fraud and deepfakes could prevent clients from giving the tech too much leeway, the report said.
With that in mind, ElevenLabs debuted in October a synthetic voice detection tool, which picks up traces in a live audio stream to conclude if the caller is human or AI. The idea is to help government agencies that aren’t prepared to deal with a flood of AI agents on their platforms, the report said.
Voice AI has moved from answering questions to taking action, PYMNTS reported in July. Competition now focuses on whether AI can do something useful after it grasps its instructions.
A warehouse supervisor can ask about inventory shortages while walking the floor, while a field technician can diagnose equipment without stopping to type. For B2B firms, the implication is workflow compression, with voice AI agents melding multiple corporate interactions into a single conversation.
“Consider accounts payable,” the report said. “Instead of navigating multiple ERP screens, a finance manager could simply ask, ‘Which invoices are becoming high risk? Contact suppliers requesting payment extensions under $50,000 and prepare a liquidity summary for tomorrow’s CFO meeting.’”
