First Data Rolls Out Clover Mobile, Clover Mini In The UK

First Data, the commerce-enabling technology company, announced Thursday (Dec. 8) the expansion of its Clover platform, launching Clover Mini and Clover Mobile in the U.K.

In a press release, First Data said the Clover Mini and Clover Mobile devices use cutting-edge technology that enables consumers to enter their PIN on a tablet-based touchscreen device that is EMV-compliant. First Data said the devices have successfully completed common criteria evaluation against the JTEMS POI Protection Profile. The company went on to say that the Clover Mini and Clover Mobile are among the first devices to be approved with this technology for deployment in the U.K.

“We have been impressed with the popularity of both Clover Mobile and Clover Mini in the U.S., with thousands of the devices being deployed everywhere from quick-service restaurants to major sports arenas,” said Michael Neborak, EVP and head of the EMEA region at First Data, in the press release. “Today, we are delighted to officially launch these two cutting-edge solutions to U.K.-based business owners so they can run their businesses more efficiently while accepting transactions safely and securely.”

According to First Data, Clover Mobile was designed to “sell on the move,” such as at a restaurant table, food from a van, at displays in a store or in a busy line. With Clover Mobile, business owners also get integrated inventory management, accounting and analytics all in a handheld device. Clover Mini is a payment terminal that is much smaller but includes all the bells and whistles of the Clover Station but, all the while, taking up less counter space. Some of the things the devices can do include accepting multiple EMV credit and debit payment types, contactless payments and Swipe, managing tips and cash back and syncing to a Bluetooth printer.
