Amazon Explore Expands to Offer Group Experiences

Amazon Explore customers can now book small live group experiences for up to seven people in an expansion of the initiative launched last year amid the global pandemic that features hundreds of one-on-one experiences from around the world.

The group experiences are “designed to allow customers to discover destinations around the globe with other people who share the same interests,” according to the company blog post. “People can book and share the same experience, even if they’re physically far apart.”

“Amazon Explore was built on the idea of connection,” Wasiq Bokhari, director of Amazon Explore, said in the blog post. “With the launch of group experiences, we can now connect people from different parts of the world who have similar interests. Together, customers can experience global moments and build memories.”

Each Amazon Explore experience “offers customers an opportunity to see, taste and even shop in different parts of the world,” according to the blog post. The program features more than 450 immersive experiences from seven categories in 21 spots around the world.

Among the current Amazon Explore offerings are a virtual tour Hong Kong’s Sham Shui Po neighborhood, a lesson on making empanadas from Buenos Aires, a Mexican coffee lesson from a family roaster, a virtual cocktail class where attendees make the Peruvian Pisco Sour, a virtual trip to Australia and a visit to Costa Rica Dog Rescue.

Amazon Explore group experiences start at $14.

Amazon Explore hosts take attendees on virtual tours of their selected locations, whether the attendee is on camera or not. Tours include online trips to cultural landmarks, lessons on cooking, tie-dyeing and other skills, and shopping at boutique markets and other stores.

Most Amazon Explore sessions are between 30 and 60 minutes. Users can take photos during their sessions using a built-in virtual camera after logging in through their Amazon accounts.
