Celebrity pet food brand Made by Nacho, which is described as “a cat food for the modern cat” that includes both wet and dry foods, rolled out on Tuesday (April 6), according to a press release.

The brand was developed by Nacho Flay, a cat “who grew up with 24/7 access to his dad, Chef Bobby Flay,” according to the release.

“While many know I am passionate about cooking, I am equally as passionate about the cats in my life,” celebrity chef Bobby Flay said in the release. “Made by Nacho melds those passions together, and with Nacho by my side, I am proud to share what we created. While I influence the recipes, Nacho does the hard work of creating the menu and paw-selecting every ingredient.”

Made by Nacho’s menu includes “sustainably-caught salmon,” “grass-fed beef,” and “cage-free chicken” because cats are carnivores, according to the announcement. The recipes also include vegetables and fruits such as kale, blueberries, cranberries and pumpkin.

The secret ingredient is bone broth, which brings a concentrate of protein, nutrients and collagen in every recipe in addition to more hydration in wet food recipes. Oats and millet are added for fiber to round out the brand’s menu, as well as pre and probiotics for digestive wellness. Made by Nacho is made in the United States “with the world’s finest ingredients,” according to the announcement.

“Dogs have led R&D at pet food companies for long enough, and I’m excited to team up with Nacho and educate the larger feline community on cat health,” Dr. Katja Lang, DVM and veterinary consultant at Made by Nacho, said in the release. “I’ve worked with Nacho to identify what is best for feline diets, starting with nutritional content, all the way down to flavor — because palatability is essential to a cat’s food.”

The brand is currently offering its products through eCommerce. It will be carried in PetSmart starting on April 19.
