The FoodTech startup has joined with World Central Kitchen (WCK) in making hot meals available in Ukraine cities and at border crossings with Poland, Romania, Hungary and Moldova.

WCK has opened a kitchen and food supply depot in Poland, on the Ukraine border. It also has a warehouse in Lviv where trucks are packed with food headed for eastern Ukrainian cities to support a strained supply chain.

The WCK is a nonprofit whose mission is to provide meals in the wake of natural disasters. It was founded in 2010 by celebrity chef José Andrés following the earthquake that devastated Haiti.

“We are shocked by the war and human tragedy in Ukraine,” said Food Rocket Founder and CEO Vitaly Alexandrov, in a statement to Retail Tech Innovation Hub. “We stand with the Ukrainian people, including our own colleagues and their families.”

To support Ukraine, he said, Food Rocket has launched this collaboration with WCK and hopes that efforts like these will make a difference and perhaps even save lives.
