Specific-purpose payment solutions firm Edenred is collaborating with Visa to introduce a commercial card solution for fleet management expenses.

Edenred Essentials is a Visa commercial card specifically for fuel, electric vehicle (EV) charges and vehicle expenses, according to a Monday (Aug. 8) press release

“Businesses have limited payment options for their vehicle expenses, and we saw this as an amazing opportunity to offer a new, user-friendly and best-in-class fleet solution,” said Ed Fleischmann, CEO of Edenred USA. “Visa is at the forefront of the digital payment revolution, and we’re excited to partner with them to bring this innovative solution to the U.S. market.”

Edenred Essentials offers real-time information and seamless controls to support daily payment needs for fleet management — fuel, EV charging, in-store purchases, vehicle registration, tolling, car washes, maintenance and more, per the release.

The solution is designed to save time when it comes to fleet management while also helping to boost productivity, particularly for small- to medium-sized businesses (SMBs). There’s also a cashback rewards program that works through a partnership with thousands of gas stations nationwide.

“The new Edenred Visa solution gives maximum flexibility to fleet businesses, matching or surpassing functionality of existing fleet cards and expanding acceptance,” said Veronica Fernandez, head of Visa Business Solutions, North America.

Edenred was launched in 2010 and was formerly known as Accor Services. Headquartered in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France, the company is led by Chairman and CEO Bertrand Dumazy and operates in 46 countries, serving 900,000 clients around the world.

The company offers specific-purpose payment solutions for food (meal vouchers), fleet and mobility (fuel cards, commuter vouchers), incentives (gift vouchers, employee engagement platforms) and corporate payments (virtual cards), according to its website.
