UK contactless card transactions reached a record high in March, more than 200 percent from a year earlier.
In the UK the monthly spending via contactless cards has exceeded $100 million, according to The UK Cards Association.
The new figures show that UK consumers have spent over $30 million just in March, a 200 percent increase since the same month last year.

“Contactless technology is a fast, easy and secure way to pay by card,” Graham Peacop, Managing Director of The UK Cards Association told Payments Cards & Mobile. “Whether it’s to buy a cup of coffee or pay for a trip on the bus, today’s figures show that consumers are voting with their wallets and find contactless cards a very convenient way to pay.”
In the UK, approximately 1 in 3 cardholders have a contactless card.
