Provider Ranking of Digital Banking Apps Unties Itself (Mostly)

Something you’ll notice about the PYMNTS Provider Ranking of Digital Banking Apps is that the apps we rank are on the leading edge — we could almost call them “digital-first” banking apps — but no need to split hairs that finely. These are global digital bank brands with big plans.

    The Top 5

There’s a lot of competition for the top spot, and understandably so. This time around we’ve got a three-way tie for No. 1 which contains one big gainer.

All vying for No. 1 in this ranking we’ve got the Chime and Nubank apps which were already tied at No. 1, now joined by Current, pushing its way up two chart positions to reach No. 1.

    Are you feeling the drama?

At No. 2 it’s the Revolut app, not making a move.

Amid a gaggle of gainers, the Monzo app gains a spot to take No. 3

Also on the rise is the Starling Bank app, up one chart position to No. 4.

Closing out the Top 5 (we predicted this, incidentally) it’s the Dave app reentering at No. 5.

    The Top 10

Departing the Top 5 the first thing we encounter is a big win. At No. 6 and up three chart positions from last month it’s the KOHO Financial app.

No change at No. 7 as the N26 holds steady there.

In fact, from here on all apps have kept to their last known ranking position.

Tangerine still looks tangy at No. 8.

Also, a repeat performance at No. 9 for the Empower app.

Tying at No. 10 this time as last it’s still a neck-and-neck race between Liv. UAE and Monese, each sticking to the spot to see who lasts longer.

Tune in next month and find out.
