Brex Debuts Mobile Cash Flow Management Tools

Brex, mobile app, startups

Brex has debuted a set of new features for mobile cash flow management for startup founders, according to a Tuesday (Feb. 15) press release.

Per the release, startup founders have to contend with different cash needs for their businesses, often managing everything without a finance team. As such, they need different products, which Brex purports to provide.

Brex’s mobile app now allows for up to eight accounts to be created, including payroll, marketing and taxes, all of which are funded through direct deposit or cash moved between accounts instantly. This will allow for more visibility and control over funds.

Accounts can serve “any purpose,” according to the release, and can especially help to separate investor funds from operational expenses through automated processes. Brex will also feature a mobile home screen with a personalized task inbox, which will be able to include payment approvals or reminders about transactions.

“Enterprise mobile apps have always lagged behind consumer-facing ones, especially in business banking and expense management. That shouldn’t be the case,” Chief Product Officer Karandeep Anand said in the release. “Brex is doing things differently with its mobile app by focusing on productivity, so founders and employees can spend less time managing expenses and more time building and scaling their startup.

“Unlike most banks, Brex serves the financial needs of the fastest-growing startups, whose founders expect best-in-class mobile support that complements their working style.”

Last month, Brex also teamed up with 1Password to help bolster online payments, which PYMNTS wrote will allow 1Password customers to use virtual cards from Brex.

Brex customers will be able to autofill card information at checkouts, and administrators will be able to create and fill vendor cards at checkout.

As employers connect their accounts, a Brex vault is created for their 1Password account. Users will be able to access their accounts via 1Password in the browser, managing it via Brex dashboards.
